Oldpostcards.com Grading System
Grading for Oldpostcards.com is the same Grading as UStownviews.com and Worldpostcards.com
We base our Grading 1 – 5
: Grade 1 - is best, Grade 5 - is lowest grade
**** Writing on Postcard or Postal Used is not considered for condition though will be mentioned on Larger Image for Grade 1 & 2 after you click on Thumbnails.
Grade 1 - Mint Corners
– Nearly perfect postcard with square corners and clean edges, no creases. This card could have slight natural yellowing from age.
Grade 2 - Near Mint Condition
– Corners or edges have very light wear, close to grade 1 no creases. This card could have slight natural yellowing from age..
Grade 3 - Excellent Condition
– This card is middle of the road with minor faults such as some corner wear and or edge wear. Postcard can be postal used or unused. Might have writing on front and or back. This card could have some yellowing from age. . There are no creases though there could be slight indentations in cards.
Grade 4 - Very Good Condition
- Has more faults than Grade 3. This postcard shows more corner, edge wear and; or has light creases. It could have a slight tear which would be described. This card could be lightly soiled and may or may not be Postal used.
Grade 5- Poor Condition
- Is a lower grade postcard, has more faults than Grade 4. This postcard is damaged with a bad creases and wear. There could be a tear or missing corner which will be described. A postcard in this condition would be chosen for its image view only to later be upgraded.
